The Syntax Guide
Before you begin Syntax Sorcery, review the building blocks of the English language:
Subject: The person/thing performing the action. (e.g., John ran.)
Predicate: The action or state of being. (e.g., He ran.)
Direct Object: Receives the action. (e.g., He ate pizza.)
Modifier: Describes a noun. (e.g., The blue sky.)
Adverb: Describes a verb or adjective. (e.g., Ran quickly.)
Preposition: Shows relationship. (e.g., In the house.)
Object: Follows a preposition. (e.g., In the house.)
Sub. Conjunction: Joins clauses. (e.g., Because it rained...)
Verbals: Verbs acting as nouns/adjectives. (e.g., Running is fun.)
